Counting the Cost

Jesus set his face toward Jerusalem. (Luke 9:51) It’s a way of saying he was deliberately walking into what most of us would defiantly run from. It’s dealing rather than avoiding. It’s doing the hard thing rather than taking the easy way. It’s the intentional decision to give and sacrifice without fear of consequences. Throughout Lent we will walk this path with Jesus as he faces his Jerusalem and as we learn what it means to face ours.
