New. Unprecedented. Change.
These words are getting used a lot right now. They certainly fit. Let’s admit it, new things can be difficult, but new things—even difficult things—can help us better see what God is doing and join Him.
Jesus used a metaphor to help us understand this. He said, new wine goes into new wineskins. In other words, new realities require new ways of living. This was true of Jesus himself—the one who had come to make all things new. It’s been true of all those who have followed Jesus into new ways of being faithful across the millennia. And it can be true of us.
