We have exciting upgrades coming to the MAC for 2022!
For nearly 20 years, our Ministry and Activities Center has been a place to live out Broadway’s mission of INVITE, GROW, and SERVE together.
We have celebrated births and baptisms and Bible presentations in this room. Children, youth, and adults have learned to follow Jesus here. We have welcomed and worshipped and worked countless hours together. I think about how twice a year this space is utilized for our Little Angel’s attic consignment sale to benefit children on Saturday and then it is completely transformed for worship on Sunday. Our connection to God inside these walls and our connection to his work outside these walls are inextricably tied together and this room has been a powerful tool and symbol of that transforming mission…with Jesus at the center of it all. I personally have vivid memories of my kids when they were little running from wall to wall after Kids Zone live and I remember meeting God at times at the altar. It has been a sacred space where people have encountered Jesus and come more fully alive.
And now it is time to dream about how we might use this room to live into our mission for the next 20 years and for the next generation of Broadway’s legacy.
We are dramatically and intentionally redesigning the Ministry and Activities Center, with the goal of making it an even more relational space. We’re changing the orientation of the room to help people connect even more deeply with God and one another. The MAC will be wide rather than deep in order to bring us closer together. No one will be very far from what is happening in the front of the room. The platform will be lower and closer to the congregation as we engage in worship as one. There will be more natural light and we are upgrading the original technology so we can see and hear better. The MAC will have the same number of seats and space to invite, grow and serve for the next 20 years.
All this will be happening very soon. Our last MAC service for a little while will be Sunday November 21. Then, starting November 28, for the Advent and Christmas season, our 9:30 service will meet, still at 9:30, but in the Melrose sanctuary while this room will be under construction. Basically at our Melrose Campus we will all be celebrating Advent, Christmas Eve and Christmas at our regular worship times in the sanctuary. We anticipate moving back into the newly renovated MAC in early January as we start the new year and turn a new page in Broadway’s story. We invite you to join us in writing our next chapter together.
